The Next Level Purchasing Association (NLPA) today announced the release of a new online training course that reflects the new, strategic role supplier diversity has begun to play in leading organizations. “Strategic Supplier Diversity Best Practices” teaches forward-thinking procurement professionals and leaders various techniques and processes that will positively contribute to an organization’s branding, competitive advantage, and assurance of supply.
“Supplier diversity was once thought of as merely a way of complying with customer requirements or even just a nice thing to do,” said Charles Dominick, SPSM3, President and Chief Procurement Officer of the NLPA. “But as today’s leading organizations have demonstrated, supplier diversity done strategically can be a core part of an organization’s social responsibility program and a profit booster to boot. ‘Strategic Supplier Diversity Best Practices’ is designed to help procurement professionals bring these benefits to their organizations.”
While the training course covers fundamentals of supplier diversity – such as defining supplier categories, establishing second tier programs, and preventing fraud – “Strategic Supplier Diversity Best Practices” also uniquely focuses on executive concepts such as achieving return on investment and aligning supply demographics with demand demographics. “Strategic Supplier Diversity Best Practices” is one of over 40 online procurement courses offered by the NLPA and is part of the fourth level of the NLPA’s Strategic Procurement & Supply Management Body of Knowledge® (SPSM-BOK®).
