I am looking forward to all of the keynote speeches and educational breakout sessions at this month’s NLPA Conference.  But there are two sessions in particular that I may be just a little extra excited for.

Don’t miss updates on Procurement & Supply Chain, Subscribe here!

Those two sessions are the case studies of separate procurement transformations.  They are being presented by the heads of procurement of two very different companies.

The first of those sessions is “Darwin’s Evolution of Procurement:  HarbisonWalker International’s Story.”  HarbisonWalker International is a manufacturer based in the USA.  Their Senior Director of Global Procurement – Jason Borgesi, SPSM – will walk you through their procurement transformation.  Before the transformation, HarbisonWalker International’s procurement operated in a manner where the “strategic had become victim to the tactical.”  But, today, the group is excelling at changing the nature of demand, managing spend, leveraging competition among potential suppliers, and seeking joint advantage with strategic suppliers.  If you attend this session, you’ll learn how HarbisonWalker International’s procurement department got from Point A to Point B and will take away Borgesi’s top ten tips for how you can achieve similar results.

The second of those sessions is “The Procurement World Is Not Flat:  Discovering World-Class Procurement At Erste Group.”  In contrast to HarbisonWalker International, Erste Group is a service company based in Europe.  Specifically, they are a bank similar in size to the US’ PNC Bank and have around a billion dollars in annual indirect spend.  Their Chief Procurement Officer – Robert Semethy, SPSM, SPSM2, SPSM3 – will share how the group started with an ambitious yet concise vision:  to become a world-class procurement organization.  Then, Semethy will summarize how six years of transformation and four years of continuous improvement have led to amazing results.  The session will end with a list of critical success factors that you can use to guide your own procurement transformation.

The NLPA Conference is being held on October 24 & 25, 2016 at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  BUT HERE’S AN IMPORTANT DETAIL:  The deadline to register is Monday October 10 at Noon Eastern US time.  So, if you’re a procurement leader who wants to get procurement transformation tips from your peers who have “been there, done that,” be decisive and register right away!  You don’t want to miss this opportunity to “Make Your Mark on Procurement History!”
