Next Level Purchasing teaches the value of managing supplier performance in general and, specifically, the value of rewarding those suppliers who perform well. And we practice what we preach.

We recently announced our winner of our 2005 Supplier of the Year Award – Karen Oakley Designs out of Hewitt, Texas. Here’s what I had to say in our press release:

“A business image is a key growth factor,” said Charles Dominick, C.P.M., SPSM, president of Next Level Purchasing. “Karen Oakley Designs has helped Next Level Purchasing brand our image with its top-quality design work. In addition, Karen Oakley Designs’ service and commitment to customer satisfaction is second-to-none in any industry. Next Level Purchasing is proud to honor Karen Oakley Designs as our 2005 Supplier of the Year.”

Too often, purchasing professionals get caught up in dealing with the suppliers that are involved in operational crises. It is important to also give plenty of attention to those suppliers that help you succeed day in and day out. Contrary to what you may think, it doesn’t take much time nor much money.

Perhaps I’ll detail the simple process we used in a future edition of PurchTips.

Until then, don’t forget to thank your excellent suppliers.
