"It was when an important decision is needed to be decided on. It was an urgent purchase of an important item for our garments that has been held by the General Manger due to price hike. It took us almost a month to finalize the said project. After several encounter with the sales representative of the printing company, the General Manager stood firm with his decision of holding the order until he is satisfied with the discount. He even exerted effort to talk to the owner of the said printing company. Then final discount had been approved but the quality on printing has been reduced. Still, the problem has not been solved because of the production lead time. It took another 2 weeks to be delivered. Production, Merchandising, Warehouse and Quality Control Departments have been bugging me regarding urgency of the product. I have asked the supplier to deliver partially. Several proofing were made till final printing was approved. Through numerous follow up, the supplier delivered partially till he completed the full order.
When the time that the said problem reached our VP Operations, the General Manager was asked and pinned down. But instead of accepting his fault, he blamed the Merchandising Manager and me. From the very beginning, we informed him that we have zero stock of the said item, yet he didn't mind the situation till he was castigated. On the other hand, I have been recording all the history and transactions of our department. So in effect, I was able to justify the delay that was indicted on me.
All we need is a systematic coordination with each and every one in the company for an effective department. I also learned that good leadership inspires each employee who develops trust and loyalty to the company."
